Junior School to Walk 90 Kilometres
As part of the 90 Year celebration activities taking place during the whole of 2016 at Riverston, the Junior School children – including those in Nursery and Pre-School, started to prepare themselves for the challenge of walking – or running – 90 kilometres during the next 12 months. They intend to walk 1km each day at school. This is a massive project and fits in well with the “active bodies and active brains” initiative being run for all students.
Here they are marking out the playground and finding out how far it is around the outside of the playground. The calculation they have made is that 8 laps will equal 1 kilometre. A chart in the Foyer will record their achievements and it is hoped that every pupil (and teacher) will make it at the end of the year. Good luck everyone. Let’s get walking!
